Flaubert’s great novel is lavishly illustrated with over 250 images created for this volume by Marc Camille Chaimowicz. As with all books in the series, the text of the novel is included complete, set in a new typeface, specially comissioned for this edition, based on fonts in use in France in the 1800s.
Marc Camille Chaimowicz’s exhibitions include Jean Genet... The Courtesy Of Objects, at NUCA (Norwich), Nottingham Contemporary and Focal Point Gallery (Southend). He lives and works in London and Burgundy.
For this edition, John Morgan Studio developed a new typeface, Berthe, named after Emma Bovary’s neglected child for an edition of Flaubert’s Madame Bovary. They commissioned and worked with Charles Mazé, who drew this bespoke version based on a Deberny specimen of Série 16 from 1894.
